Kudos to the Plum Tomato. While a large majority of folks traveling to Tarpon Springs for dining experiences are in search of authentic Greek food, a well-informed select group of Italian food aficionados head there for some tasty Italian. Surrounded by Greek delis and businesses, the Plum Tomato kicks up awesome portions of homemade Italian food. The restaurant makes its own sauce and dough for the pizzas and provides great pasta dishes, salads, grinders and other selections.

We had heard from people that this restaurant served excellent food. We are snowbirds from North Jersey. We know authentic Italian food. We eat out regularly in the north. When we got to the restaurant we didnt believe that this place was authentic italian. We ordered a small pizza appetizer...It was simply out of this world. I can not remember the last time I had a pizza this good. I believe that it was even better that what we got in Jersey. The sauce of the pizza was spectacular. I asked the waitress to bring some extra pizza sauce so that I could dip the crust ends. I could have eaten the sauce with a spoon it was so good. The restaurant is small but roomy. You saw them making your food in the kitchen which I liked. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The service was great. We eat there regularly there now. They said everything was homemade, and I believe them. I have never had such a good pizza anywhere in Florida. I dont know where these people came from, but Im glad they chose to come to Tarpon. I can say I have had what some would call pizza at other places in the area, and this place is above and beyond what I expected. I ordered another extra large pizza for the next day. Tell them Jerry from North Jersey sent you.

AL DENTE FINALLYYYY !!!!! WoW !!! What a nice change from the everyday Greek food in a mostly Greek community...We were waitng for a long time for some authentic up-north Italian Restaurant!!!! Pizza is Great, place is nice wine is Great, and service was excellent...Wife had Zuppa Di Pesce Amalfitano and loved the fresh seafood and really loved the Plum Tomato slow simmered sauce over the al dente linguine pasta..Kids loved the authentic New York style cheese pizza, and I had a Veal dish that was out of this world!!! The dish is called Veal Meditteranian and is hand carved fresh veal medallions lightly floured and egg dipped, sauted in olive oil and topped with pan fried fresh eggplant meddallions and imported provolone cheese and finished with a white wine lemon butter sauce... Need I say MORE !!!! Veal was tender and mouth watering, the blend of lemon white wine and a hint of garlic is to DIE FOR...We will definetly go back as soon as possible and I will review this hidden and thank GOD not yet well known restaurant in Tarpon Springs...To Be Continued!!!!!
