R Beach

Large-5 from 3 ratings

Type: Bar

Price: $$ ($9-$15)

Hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 4 p.m. to Closing (varies depending on crowd.) Sundays open at 12 p.m.

R Beach came into the community of Hernando Beach after a long time bar hangout departed. The new owners renovated, fumigated and expanded the rarely-used deck, now and host one of the area's hottest jazz events (every Wednesday from 6-9 p.m.) with musicians who've played with Lionel Hampton and Woody Herman. The food is mostly seafood, sandwiches and pasta and the atmosphere is pure beach. Crowded weekends on the waterfront (canal, really) is a great place to hang...since Hernando Beach didn't have a real beach. Frank and Susan made the place their beach...and "R Beach", too!

R Beach is a good friend; and return customer at Lowe's in Spring Hill, where I work. On short notice, and a shoestring budget, Mr. Beach didn't disappoint us on our, 'contractor appreciation day,' when he catered the event. He provided very good sausage and peppers, chicken marsalla. iced tea and nachos, at a modest price, along with two servers, and there was plenty of food for every one. Mr. Beach pretty much volunteered his time, and to me, pulled off a minor miracle, very proffessionally. I doububt if he actually made money by the event, and said, sincerely, that he was willing to work for nothing if necessary. He also expressed his concern over the environmental impact of the BP oil spill on the seafood industry. Of course, this is a guy trying to make a living, but also one who has serious concern over the community. It was perhaps the best contractor appreciation events we've hosted, and Mr. Neach certainly held up his end of it. He deserves serious support from the community, and works hard for your support. He is a tireless restaratueur, and deserverves a chance. Please support his business.
